Note : in HyperOS, you need to apply for unlocking in the Mi Community app, to be able to unlock bootloader. need an account at least 30 days old, and is recommended to switch region to UK in the app when doing it. but, for me personally it always says application quota reached so they're making it very hard
for miui : in order to unlock bootloader just enteriing to fastboot is not enough, you need to have a sim in your phone then connect to mi account and make sure that number which is connected to mi account , have mobile data too for verifying then install some app and maybe if you are lucky your account will be approved. And then you need to wait for 7 days too

Nokia Drivers must be installed so that your device is recognized in fastboot mode
- rooting
1. Reboot your phone to fastboot mode ie by pressing vol button + power or type `adb reboot bootloader` . in windows instead of `adb` use `.\adb` when into the folder where all these executables present
2. Then type `fastboot devices` to check devices in fastboot mode. For windows make sure to install minimal adb and fastboot tool . Note in case of linux if get permissions error then use sudo with preferably `sudo ${which fastboot} devices`.

3. Now to check status if device is unlocked or not type this `fastboot oem device-info`.
4. If it is not unlocked use various commands like `fastboot oem unlock` or `fastboot flashing unlock` . Now user have to navigate through volume button and chose yes to unlock bootloader. This will wipe all data though
5. There are several methods for recovery mode. One of main method is twrp. Make sure to find twrp file for your model by going to their site https://twrp.me/Devices/ ( for nokia it is https://twrp.me/nokia/nokia61plus.html).
If not found then check for this in xdm forums or at https://unofficialtwrp.com/ . for redmi one such example is https://unofficialtwrp.com/twrp-3-5-0-root-redmi-9-power/
6. Boot Image Patching method : Without twrp method
First we need boot image file and then magisk manager
So for that we need to download firmware of phone which can be downloaded from company site but if not available it can be found in https://firmwarefile.com/
for nokia 6.1 it is in

firmware are of nb0 extenstion. to unpack use this tool

7. TWRP method : Make sure to have magisk.zip and twrp img file for your model and just in case have magisk manager app on your pc. To boot phone to trwp mode type this `fastboot boot C:\Users\username\Downloads\twrp-3.3.1-1-PL2.img` or `fastboot boot C:\Users\hp\Downloads\twrp-3.4.0-0-PL2_sprout-11.0-20200909.img` . this another twrp because nokia 6.1 uses a/b paritions so maybe this helps .

If used this command `fastboot flash recovery twrp.img` then maybe your device stuck and very difficult to get back to boot device.
or maybe this is safer.

- Make sure to that current slot is a not b. Current slot can be checked by `adb getvar current-slot` and to change it `adb --set-active=a`.
- Then clickread only and the with adb sideload, sideload magisk.zip file with `adb sideload magisk.zip` .
- Then finally go to masgisk manager and install recommened and u r done. your device is not rooted. Now whenever some app or service require root access it will give a dialog box waiting for allow. For adb , go to adb shell and type su and enter to request dialog box.

- Linux issues
Sometimes linux may not be able to perform any specific action due to udev rules . in case of debian it is plugdev and in arch it is uucp group so add your user in that group and now run some commands.
Note : To get vendor id type `lsusb` and when mobile device is found. check the vendor id like XXXX:YYYY where XXXX is vendor id and YYYY is product id.

There are 2 types of custom rom mainly. One which is Stock but comes with tweaks, debloating , custom kernel etc. Other one are AOSP like lineageos, paranoid android, etc and have no oem stuff.
A trick to identify type of custom roms is if zip files contains like 2 or 3 gb then its stock and if there are another for opengapps then it means that aosp is used.

Custom kernel adds functionality like better battery, increased performance etc
While checking for kernel and opengpapps make sure to check android version and device support too for compability.
it involved sideloading like we did in rooting , so go to trwp mode and then sideloading lineageos file basically, this may not work always so refer to lineageos docs

Steps are same but few things first. In settings of lineageos search for advanced restart and then enable it which gives option to boot into recovery mode.
- When in reconvery mode go to apply update, apply adb then sideload masgisk zip file then it will warn you that signature verifiaion failed(bcz magisk is not made by same team as lineageos) but install anyway
- What magisk does is patch the boot image file when 'install recommended' option is selected. so that can be done manually too by downloading the appropriate boot img file and then patch it then transfer patch to pc then use `fastboot flash boot magisk_patched_[random_string].img` and then reboot with `fastboot reboot`
 
- Tips
- If facing problem in random wifi disconnection then disable wifi mac address randomisation which maybe enabled by default. Oher solutions that might work, using wifi on airplane mode or turning private dns address off. Also disabling smart network switcher(switch between mobile data and wifi) might help.

- if rooting another rom while one rom is already there then make sure to wipe system parttion by booting into twrp mode
 
 
story
- hey today i successfully unlocked bootloader and rooted my nokia 6.1. there was no official way so i have to use inofficila solution which required windows and when i unlocked bootloader and tyried to boot twrp i accidently briked my device and unbrick it withh stock rom and then booted into trwp recivery but faced hanging in android one logo so i need to be creative, started research and then changed my system partition from b to a, And then after booting into twrp recivery mode , i sideloaded magisk from adb and then finally used magisk manager to root it.

use twrp or orangefox
for orangefox extract zip downloaded from https://orangefox.download/device/60f1671c4447b54af15acc82 and extract it and use recovery.img to flash recovery

in my case it was not booting to recovery just by this command an was booting normally to stock rom which repaced any sustom recovery installed so make sure to press vol up button after pressing power button for a bit and make sure to leave power button when it says unllocked otherwise it will just reboot. Timing is key here
