FreeBSD - fastest bandwidth I've had, beats Linux 2x over - no hugely fragmented distro bullshit - amazing networking stack, small, clean codebase, clean base system that gets stable updates, but the packages are updated much more often freebsd has the most readable kernel code I have ever seen - So, on FreeBSD you have a base system, everything except user-installed stuff basically. The stuff you install using the package manager does not touch that base system, the base system only gets updated when you update from a release to another. But it's not like Debian, so stuff you install using pkg, the package manager, will get rolling updates. the result is that you can't do anything with your packages that would make your system unbootable you could remove every package on your system and still have a functioning base
